Part 3
Why are Christians so hypocritical? Its funny but I can use the Jesus Freaks album for this as well. As an intro to one of the songs called "What if I stumble, What if I fall?" there is a quote inserted in that says "The greatest single cause of Atheism in the world today is Christians. Christians that confess Jesus by their lips; and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle.” I know as a Christian I struggle all the time. Just because I am a Christian doesn’t mean that I don’t struggle myself. That said that is no excuse to act like am not a Christian. It gives me no excuse to walk around swearing and being angry at people and spewing hate. Others that are not Christians themselves look at that and think “Is that a Christian? I don’t like that”
tommorow i will post on some of the diffrences between Christianity and Catholicism
Part 2
Why will becoming a Christian make my life better: Let me share a story with you There are two people on an airplane. A stewardess comes to the first person and says that if they put on this parachute the plane ride will be more enjoyable, in fact it will be even better. After a while the parachute starts to become uncomfortable and people around him are looking at him like he’s an idiot for wearing this stupid parachute. So far throughout this whole trip nothing good has come from wearing this parachute, so the man decides that its time to take it off. The second person is offered a parachute. This time they are told that he should wear this parachute because the plane is going to crash and the parachute will save you. He (lets just assume it’s a he) takes the parachute and puts it on gladly and goes back to his seat. He notices that it is uncomfortable but still he knows that it will be worth it so he fights through the pain, people around him start joking about how he is wearing a parachute, this time though the man actually tries to get the other passengers to wear a parachute as well.
The eventual plane crash is actually the crash to hell. The parachute that saves the man represents the price that Jesus paid for us when he died on the cross.
A lot of preachers take the line that if you follow Jesus your life will be better. The problem that I have with this is that there is no Biblical basis for this. This is just something that people think will happen. In fact a lot of time following Jesus will make your life harder, usually from the persecution from others.
Part one of a series of blogs on Religion
So this blog is a response to one of my friends blogs on Religion. She asked me to write my feelings on Christianity and how I validate it. So the format the best works for me is probably a question and answer style. So here goes:
1) How can you believe there is a God: I like the metaphor that Billy Graham uses, i heard it on the DC Talk CD Jesus Freaks. (This CD by the way is one of my all time favourites) Billy says during one of the songs: "Can you see God, NO, Can you see the Wind? No. How do you know its there? You can see the effects of the wind, there is a mystery to Him" You can see the effects of the Wind, just like i can see the effects of God. I can feel the wind, I can feel God. God is what’s called Omnipresent. This is a five dollar word for he is everywhere, all the time. And just for note, God does not ask that we follow blindly, He would never expect that. He reveals Himself to us when we need it the most.
So i took a walk...
It rained yesterday, but after the rain it was beautiful out, so i went walking. I also took some pictures.
