not is all as it appears
so it looked really warm out today, that was until you stepped out into the wind blowing ice off of the buildings downtown...brrrr.
So i had an interesting experience today, three of my friends where going to the mall and i said that i had nothing to do so i'd tag along. Oh if i only knew the onslaught that would insue. Did i mention that these three friends also happen to be girls. Now i don't really make a habit of shopping with girls, because i see them shop all day while im at work, but i seemed to have lost my sensability teporarilly. So not only were they shopping, it wasn't just ordinary 'shopping', no, it was dress shopping. Now any guy reading this, if ANY girl asks you to go dress shopping with them, turn and run, fast, far, don't turn back....ever. So we get to the mall and we are going through stores and then my one of my friends starts trying on dresses. Here is how the conversation goes after she comes out wearing dress 1
Friend in Dress: So guys what do you think? Don't you think it makes my boobs look huge!?
Friend 2: um... ya, but i like it
Friend 3: that dress is sooo cute
Me: um... well....
Here is the next predicement, how do you tell a girl she doesn't look good in a dress? especially when she likes it. Its like.... trying to kill Mr. Rogers (lemondemon!), its impossible to do it. Well that's all for now. Im tired. i have a banquet tomorrow. ugh.
Something really beautiful
So in our Adult Bible Fellowship class at church we have been learning about great theologians of the church. It is really cool. But last week we went over a guy named Jonathan Edwards. He is considered to be the greatest philosopher to come out of America, as well as the greatest theologian. Guys like that are usually considered to be pretty dry, but listen to what he said about his wife, before he even started to date her:
They say there is a young lady in New Haven who is beloved of that Almighty Being, who made and rules the world, and that there are certain seasons in which this great Being, in some way or other invisible, comes to her and fills her mind with exceeding sweet delight, and that she hardly cares for anything, except to meditate on him - that she expects after a while to be receiced up where he is, to be raised up out of the world and caught oup into heaven; being assured that he loves her too well to let her remain at a distance from him always. There she is to dwell with him, and to be reavished with his love and delight forever. Therefore, if you present all the world before her with the richest of its treasures, she disregards it and cares not for it, and is unmindful of any pain of affliction. Whe has a strange sweetness in her mind, and singular purity in her affections; is most just and lest she should offend this great Being. She is of wonderful sweetness, calmness and universal benevolence of mind; especially after those seasons in which this great God has manifested himself to her mind. She will sometimes go on about from place to place, singing sweetly; and seems to be always of joy and pleasure; and no one knows for what. She loves to be alone, and to wander in the fields and on the mountains, and seems to have someone invisible always conversing with her"
Wow...
ah the calmness
so its warmed up a little today, only minus 15, not counting the windchill....
Today i had a really weird dream. I was playing poker with a bunch on people. My family were there, and some other friends of mine from church. I was delt a pretty much un beatible hand 3 queens and 4 sixes. So i went 'all in' and then my mom got mad a me for a bunch of stuff i had been doing in my life that maybe i shouldn't be doing. It was really weird. Looking back at it, it seems almost like God was talking to me, because the message cut straight through. It cut through all the rest of the dream. Strange.
wow its freakin cold PT. 2
gah! its -40 with the windchill today! Why oh why? By the time i get from the train station to school, i can't feel my legs. And then my friends Trent and Randy get to brag about how they are going to Egypt in a week!! brrr....
WOW its freakin cold!
So the past few days its been really really ridiculously cold. My boss asked me today, being from Toronto, "Is it always this cold in Calgary?". Now before i go on, I really do love screwing with people that are not from here. C'mon how ignorant. "Is it always -30 in Calgary?" Of course not, but apparantly he doesn't know this. So of course i say "Ya" but the tone in my voice was that of 'of course, its winter, why wouldn't it be cold'. To which my boss answered "oh, huh, i think i'll need to buy some sweaters then". People are funny
speaking of funny people, have you ever gone to the mall by yourself, and just watched how people interact. Its quite fun, not as creepy as it sounds, really. I dunno its just cool to see how happy some people are, and, on the other hand, how sad... but i watched this video today of this guy. It was called 'How not to rob a liquor store'. It was, and i am not exagerating, the funniest thing i have ever seen. I had to stop it a couple times, because my chest was hurting from how hard i was laughing. If you wanna see it just google 'how not to rob a liquor store'
Oh and some news that made me laugh and jeer at the same time. Some friends of mine are moving to Qutar, i think thats wrong (it sounds lik ku-tar), which is sad, but we are getting their horse. But that's not it, no we are also getting their miniature donkey. That's right. I will soon be in possession of a miniature donkey...i cant wait to try and ride it!
blog-digity
Well, i don't really know why i have a blog, no one really reads it. I guess its good just to get things off the preverbial chest sometimes. Well on the 4th it was my birthday, and i turned the big one-nine. Not very huge, but it was a good birthday, really low key(like me) but i did get some really awesome gifts. Now im not really a person that brags about what i got, but i was given probably the most awesome snowboarding jacket EVER. I'll leave it at that. I also was given a killer scarf, and some money. The money i put towards an iPod which i bought a couple days later. So ya that was my birthday.
I also attented this private concert last week. It was at a student of mines house. The concert was put on by a guy named Sergei Saratov (i think i butchered the last name) and he was a semi-finalist in the Honons Piano Competition. It was the most amazing piano playing i have ever seen. I brought a friend of mine, and she isn't so much into the music side of fine arts as she is into the dancing side. She was a ballarina (again spelling) but i won't hold it against her. Just kidding, she enjoyed it very much.
But i takes an event like this to show you how diffrent your life is from someone elses. The house was enourmous, they had a grand piano, "help" to serve us, amazing art eveywhere (and it wasn't prints lol) and just an amazing place. Did i mention it was built right on a lake? All i can say is wow.
More later.
peace out
